Supreme Petrochem Ltd made a smooth switch from ECC to SAP S/4 HANA resulting in improved productivity and digitization of its business process.
THE ENTERPRISE
SPL (Supreme Petrochem Ltd) is India’s largest producer and exporter of polystyrene polymer based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. It has a market share of more than 50% in the Indian market. SPL is also the largest exporter of polystyrene from India, exporting to over 93 countries around the globe. SPL products and services include Polystyrene, Expandable Polystyrene, Specialty Polymers and Compounds, and Extruded Polystyrene Foam Boards. Currently, SPL’s exports are over 100,000 Tons/Year. SPL has around 2,000 employees including over 250 SAP users.
THE BUSINESS CHALLENGES & IT ALIGNMENT
SPL desired to move to a single, central digital core. SPL was earlier on IBM-I platform with SAP ECC EHP4. The hardware was due for renewal. To overcome this, they decided to leverage SAP S/4 HANA technology to improve productivity and help in the digitization of business processes. A faster large-scale data processing speed was also needed and a stable process foundation put in place.
The system had lot of business functions that were activated during earlier implementation and they also focused on adapting ABAP custom code to HANA database architecture.
THE SOLUTION WALKTHROUGH
The solution that Nihilent provided helped them to deactivate unwanted business functions, put through the HANAtization of RICEF (100 objects), and made sure that the conversion was completed with minimal disruption of business and re-implementation.
POST-DEPLOYMENT BENEFITS
The solution came in with some add-on benefits like an increase in system operational efficiency due to reduced data footprint. The business process was modelled with smarter Fiori Apps and the system witnessed greater transparency and stronger cost, revenue, and profit controls combined with a reduction in database size, with a higher compression ratio in SAP S/4HANA.
