Having stabilized the operations within centralized fulfillment facility, a need was felt to embark on the next wave of transformation, aimed at optimization, a significant element of which was workforce capacity optimization. Nihilent along with Standard Bank IPC Continuous Improvement team developed a custom lean-sigma methodology and toolkit, by optimizing fulfillment operations and offering better customer service at a lower unit cost of processing, thereby helping the Bank to differentiate itself from the competition in the South African personal and business banking market.

Nihilent, using its process engineering expertise, designed and implemented a Centre-led decentralized Procurement Process which delivered risk mitigation, legislative compliance, improved service quality, and brought focus on cost management, in areas such as Strategic Sourcing, Order Fulfilment, Contract Management, Relationship Management; and Analytics & Business Intelligence.
National Bank of Commerce is one of the most respected banks in Tanzania. NBC was privatised and sold to ABSA Group Ltd. of South Africa. NBC Ltd was itself born out of the nationalization of banks and financial institutions in Tanzania in 1967. For NBC, Nihilent played an important role in entrenching a culture of process excellence and continuous improvement by leveraging the opportunities to standardize and integrate business functions using best practice tools and techniques. For Transactional and Lending functions Nihilent conducted a discovery exercise and executed a business process modelling exercise, which included current state analysis, optimised target state design, and institutionalization of a Business Process Management Centre of Excellence by providing hands on training to select NBC staff.
M-Net Micro Scheduling
The Electronic Media Network Limited was founded in 1985 as South Africa's first private subscription television service. Today, M-Net boasts an array of general entertainment and niche channels and broadcasts to over 2.5 million subscribers in 41 countries across Africa. Driven by the challenge of diversifying content and formats, and an aging micro-scheduling system, Nihilent played a pivotal role in clarifying the futuristic state of business operations, especially from a scheduling perspective. Nihilent re-engineered the micro-scheduling landscape by translating the business imperatives into clear workflows and process maps, and arriving at a set of business requirements for the selection of an appropriate automation solution.
SBSA Cards Customer Data

Nihilent optimized the Customer Data Operations (CDO) through a lean-sigma based process re-engineering engagement. Business processes within CDO manages customer data for Transactional Products, Home Loan, Vehicle Asset Finance and Cards. The operation supports gathering of new customer data, KYC compliance, and ensures regular upkeep and maintenance of data, cleaning of missing, invalid and / or out- dated data on SAP BP, for the existing customers.
Union Bank of India, registered on 11 November 1919, was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. UBI is today one of the largest government-owned banks of India with assets over USD 14 billion. Nihilent carried out a pilot re-engineering of the Loan Centre with focus on improving the turnaround time. For the bank, the Lean-Sigma solution brought dramatic improvements as the information flow was now streamlined. A culture of daily morning pit-stop meetings was also institutionalized for identifying and resolving production issues giving the management clear visibility of the production floor and quality of loan-centre operations.
